MEET MARK
About Mark Lightner
My name is Mark Lightner. I was born and raised in Brevard County, and this community is home in every sense of the word.
I was born at Holmes Regional Medical Center in Melbourne. I attended Brevard public schools and graduated from Viera High School while simultaneously earning my A.A. degree from Eastern Florida State College. I later earned a Bachelor’s degree in Business from the University of North Florida.
But the most important thing that happened in Jacksonville wasn’t earning a degree — it was meeting my wife, Karina, on the second day of college. She is my first and only girlfriend, and next to accepting Christ as my Savior, marrying her was the greatest decision of my life. Today, we are raising our children in Brevard — the same community that shaped me.
Business Experience
My career has been rooted in the heavy equipment and transportation industry, supporting sectors critical to America’s space and defense operations. Working alongside launch facilities, shipyards, and infrastructure projects has given me a deep appreciation for what keeps Florida strong: innovation, disciplined growth, and businesses that create real value.
I am not a career politician. I am a business professional, husband, and father navigating the same rising costs, insurance pressures, and school concerns facing Florida families.
Government works best when it understands the real-world impact of its decisions.
Why Public Service
I have always believed leadership is a responsibility — not a status.
Government decisions shape communities for better or worse. Thoughtful leadership protects opportunity and stability; short-sighted leadership erodes both.
That conviction guides me:
Integrity must matter more than ambition.
Results must matter more than rhetoric.
Service must always come before ego.
Public office is stewardship. And stewardship requires humility, accountability, and a commitment to long-term results — even when they aren’t politically convenient.
What I Believe
Florida must remain a place where families can afford to live, raise their children safely, build businesses, and retire with stability.
That requires responsible growth, strong schools focused on fundamentals, safe neighborhoods, fiscal discipline in Tallahassee, and accountable government.
I believe in limited government, personal responsibility, faith, family, and the rule of law. Public officials are temporary stewards — not permanent rulers — and leadership should be measured by results, not headlines.
A Generational Commitment
As a young father, I understand the pressures facing the next generation. I also deeply respect the generations who built Brevard into what it is today.
My goal is simple:
To ensure this community remains strong for both.
This campaign isn’t about politics. It’s about protecting the stability generations have worked hard to build — and preserving opportunity for the generations still to come.
Brevard shaped me.
Now I want to help shape its future — responsibly, faithfully, and with integrity.
